What is Shiai Combat Sports

SHIAI Combat Sports Championship is Singapore's first & only Mixed Martial Arts event where competitors compete in a Gi. It is a platform where various martial arts' athletes are able to share experiences in a friendly competition. 

It has been running for the past 2 years and is organised by the Ju-Jitsu Association (Singapore) & hosted by Tanglin Community Club Management Committee. As a platform to spot future talents, promising local competitors may be invited to represent Singapore* in competitions organised by the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, Ju-Jitsu Asian Union and Olympic Council of Asia*.

About Ju-Jitsu Association (Singapore)

The Ju-Jitsu Association (Singapore) is the only registered governing body for promoting Ju-Jitsu in Singapore. The primary objective of JJAS is to promote Ju-Jitsu, both as a martial art and as a sport

The JJAS is affiliated with the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF), and is a member of JJAU (Ju-Jitsu Asian Union).

Our syllabus include Sport Ju-jitsu (Fighting System, NeWaza/BJJ & Full Contact/Mixed Martial Arts) Combat Ju jitsu (Self Defence and Military /Police Combat Techniques).

FAQ/Contact

What are Affiliated Clubs/Gyms?
Any martial arts club/gym who are an affiliate member of JJAS.

Can we make payment by cash?
Yes. Upon registration, you can complete the payment when you come for weigh in.

Can foreigner residing in Singapore take part in the competition?
Yes. All non-citizens are welcome to join! However, do note that this is a talent search for national athletes as well and we will only consider locals to represent Singapore.

Can practitioners from other martial arts take part?
Yes. All martial arts are welcome to participate following the rules set forth for this competition.

Do I have to wear a Gi to participate in this competition?
Yes. As the rules of the competition requires competitors to wear a Gi.

What colour Gi can I wear?
You can wear any colour Gi you wish. However, preferably a Gi that is able to withstand the stress of the competition.

Is there a minimum age limit for participants?
Yes. You have to be aged above 17 years old on day of competition.

Will there be re-fund if I decide not to participate?
No. Unfortunately there will be no refund once registered, unless for some unforeseen reasons, e.g. cancellation of competition.

If I do not have a Gi, how can I participate? 
You can rent one from us at SG$15. Charges are for administration and laundry of the Gi.

What if I missed the weigh-in & briefing?
The weigh-in and briefing is important, the weigh in time/schedule is arranged to be convenient to majority of participants. You will not be allowed to compete if you do not come for weigh-in; no refund will be entertained. 

What if I don't make weight at time of weigh in?
As the weigh-in is within a 2-3 hour time span. You are allowed to have 2nd chance at weigh-in.

What Rules are you following? 
We will follow Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF)/Ju-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) rules for NeWaza/Grappling and an adaptation of the rules from JJIF/JJAU rules for Fighting System. 

Can a foreign club/association participate in the competition? 
Foreign club/association will be required to be affiliated member of JJIF/JJAU of their respective country. Email us to enquire more.

Why is there no belt/rank level in the competition? 
We follow IOC combat sports regulations.
